Our parish council recently received a letter from one member of our community who said the Mass times were inconvenient for them. Of course, the council leapt into action after Fr. Ty Rolean mentioned that the Mass times did indeed also interfere with his tee times and resulted in severe mortification for him, more than anyone really should expect a man of his stature to experience. He also mentioned how the early Saturday Mass times interferes with his ability to meet privately with the boy scouts who need his guidance for the religious awards. Father commented, ”I mean, after all, I can’t expect these boys to meet me in my office after school, now could I? Often times, these meetings lead into hearing the boys’ confessions, and I can’t keep getting cut off, can I?”
Fr. Rolean has now instructed the liturgy “office” to conduct a survey which Father will “take into consideration” as he determines our new Mass times. We’d like to thank the one parishioner for bringing this burning issue to the light of day. What would we do without those who would care enough to anonymously challenge all of us?
