FAQ: I hear many names for Fr. Rolean. What should I call him?
First off, thank you for your show of respect for Father by using his last name instead of using his first name, as if you were actually a peer of some sort or perhaps one of his golfing friends. We are sure that Fr. Rolean appreciates the show of respect, as we know he is a good and holy man. We of course on the staff always refer to him with his last name, showing our respect for his higher stature.
He is however aware that many of our younger parishioners are better able to “relate” by using “Fr. Ty” and he therefore, out of holy humility, allows it. Occasionally, the teens refer to him as "FT" in a "hip" sort of manner. We have heard the "teens" explain this as saying it not only stands for his name, but sometimes also means "Fr. Touchy"- their homage to his vigorous "hands on" style with them, especially during their most challenging moments during Confession.
Aren't we blessed to have such a fine man as our pastor, who gives so much of himself to young and old alike?
